Roses in concrete
Like the rose that grew through concrete, beauty can be found in the most unlikely places. Smog sets the sky alight in the sunset, ivy covers a wall. But sometimes, it isn't enough to wait and hope for nature to turn something ugly into something beautiful. Sometimes, we must work the miracle ourselves.

Fog
The Fog Rolls In by Anna May
Fog changes things. It swallows cities, cloaks hilltops, swirls around trees, presses up against windows. What do you see in a world full of silver mist?

Fall
Baker's Fallen Monarchs
Some say that the world is most beautiful in spring, when all is new and green, with budded trees and the smell of melted snow. But there is grace in the fallen leaves, the colors of the sun on the ground, the bare branches still standing, like lines on ink across the sky.
write now about that type of beauty, the kind overlooked, the kind that returns year by year by year.

Hidden
Photo: B. R. Murray
High up in the tree, a cat hides from a dog, while green peaches hide among the green leaves. Write about something hidden today.

I wish I may...
Teb Larson's Wish
What is the deepest wish of your heart? Or something smaller, a simple wish for something that seems insignificant and yet it matters to you? If you had the chance for wishes, what might they be? The prompt for today is wishing--on stars, on dandelion seeds, on eyelashes and the first ray of dawn.

Quintessential Ideal

Some things just capture our imagination. For me, it's the birds lined up on the log. What about you? Pick something and write.

Calm
Rucker Lake, Anna May
Take a moment to be still as a summer lake--breathe in and out and in again. There is only you, and the world, and your words. Let them flow.

Open friday
Robin May's Castle at Lake Bled
Sometimes memories can blur around the edges, turning clear photos into painting. Sometimes the past lasts forever, but not in ways that we think it does. Share anything you would like.

Gardens
Gardens by Teb Larson

Water, Water Everywhere
Photo: R. Parina
I served an LDS mission in the Philippines. When it rains very hard, the streets flood. This picture is a little unusual, though. Usually the flood water was around our ankles. Except for this street that had really bad drainage and the water got up to our knees. So my companion and I headed over to get some pictures. Now I've given you one story, now you can give us another about flood, or anything with too much water.

Beginnings
Photo: B. R. Murray
As the first post on this blog, we would like to celebrate beginnings with you. We’ve been looking forward to the beginning of this blog for a long time. It’s been an idea like a seed, waiting to be planted. There’s something beautiful in a seed, knowing that something so small and seemingly lifeless has the ability to burst forth into flower! Well, this seed is bursting forth and we’re excited to see all the flowers it brings.
The prompt for this week is “Beginnings.”
So, to begin, write a short story or poem then sign up in
